COBEY

The Problem:  Our customer was providing six compressor packages for a Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessel (FPSO).  The design required an API-614 system integrated into the compressor bedplate, and had to be designed to not only withstand, but to operate on a moving ship.  All this needed to be accomplished while minimizing weight on the vessel.

COBEY's Solution:  Using solid-modeling software, COBEY's designers created a 3D model of the complete compressor package and used analysis software to simulate the effects of ship motions, vibration, and fatigue on the bedplate structure.  In addition, special design features were required to account for the effects of pitch and roll on the oil system reservoir and piping.  COBEY's expertise in oil system design was a perfect compliment to this complicated task, and resulted in a safe and efficient design.  COBEY also manufactured the complete assembly including the train equipment installation, lube and seal oil system, and sound enclosure.
